Register & Configure Your Domain Name

Configuring your domain to point at NGP VAN's servers is what allows your site to be live on the internet. There are many domain providers that allow you to purchase and administer domain names. This article contains instructions on configuring a Go Daddy domain and general guidelines for configuring a domain with another provider. If you need assistance configuring your domain to the specifications listed below, please contact your domain provider's support.

Configure your domain with Go Daddy

1. Log in to your account on Go Daddy.

2. From the Go Daddy menu, navigate to Products > Domains > Current Domain Customers: Manage Now

3. On the next screen you will see a list of domains connected to your account. Click on the name of the domain you wish to configure for NGP.

4. Click on the "DNS Zone File" tab on the next screen.

5. On the DNS Zone File tab perform the following steps and save changes.

Click "Edit".
Edit/Add the following A Record: @ points to 52.6.146.82
Edit/Add the following CNAME: www points to sitename.ngpvanhost.com

NOTE: The 'sitename' may not be the domain name you provided NGP. Rather, it may be the temporary domain name you received from NGP when your site was first deployed. For candidate committees it is often the first and last name: 'bobsmith.ngpvanhost.com'. If you are unsure, please contact accelerator@ngpvan.com.

Your domain is now configured for your NGP website. The modifications you made to the omain name records can take up to 48 hours to completely propagate to the internet. This is not something NGP can control. Please provide significant lead time before your site needs to be live or before you make any major announcements.
